Title: | Pine Martin |
---|---|
Description: |
Wildlife Management Slide Show created by the USFS in 1938. Transcribed from original program. 26. Martin are common throughout the Rocky Mountains, and are denizens of the deep woods. They resent the invasion of civilization and soon leave after settlements are established by man. They are carnivorous, more or less arboreal in habit, and of course are accomplished climbers. They feed on birds, their eggs, squirrels, and other rodents. The marten is very shy and timid, and is seldom seen, because of this, and because it is largely nocturnal in its forays; although it is known to be abroad during the day. Its skin is highly prized and always commands a good price. |
