Title: Mule Deer Buck, close up.
Description: Wildlife Management Slide Show created by the USFS in 1938. Transcribed from original program.

3. Best Known of the big game animals of the United States is the deer. These are mule deer, as is evidenced by the extremely large ears, the white rump patch, and the white tail with the black tip. Mule deer are common throughout the Rocky Mountain Forests, and originally frequented the lower foothills and fringes of the plains. Its high, bouncing gait is ideally adapted to rough, broken country.
