Title: | Muskrat House |
---|---|
Description: |
Wildlife Management Slide Show created by the USFS in 1938. Transcribed from original program. 25. The house of the beavers smaller relative, the muskrat, is made up almost exclusively of aquatic vegetation. In winter, when the water is frozen, the family literally eats its home, by feeding from the inside upon the material of the house until feeding conditions in the pond improve. In spring, the roofs of muskrat houses frequently cave in, after the frost foes out, because so much of the supporting interior has been consumed. |
