Description: |
Wildlife Management Slide Show created by the USFS in 1938. Transcribed from original program. 27. One of the slyest and craftiest of the inhabitants of the forests is the red fox. Its pelt has long been highly prized and is eagerly sought. The intelligence of this animal has enabled it to retrain practically all of its original range, and in some sections it is invading new territory and increasing in numbers in spite of hunting and trapping. It is an interesting fact that the rare black and silver foxes and the cross fox are merely color phases of the red; frequently all colors are represented in the same litter of pups. |
