Image Description from original transcript: Every Forest Region Offers Scenes of Interest and Beauty..12. Lake States – Region 9. A moonlight meditation in a forest fairyland. Superior National Forest, Minn...The Lake States Region includes 7 National Forest – 4 in Michigan, 2 in Minnesota, 1 in Illinois – and 5 areas purchased for future managemen5t as National Forest, 2 in Minnesota and 3 in Wisconsin. The National Forest area of this Region is 1.5 million acres. This is the youngest of all the National Forests Regions, although previous to its establishment January 1, 1929, some of its Forests had been included in Region 2. Region 9 now included the Lake States, Ohio and Missouri. The Regional Forester has his headquarters at Milwaukee, Wisconsin...There are many natural attractions within this region for the tourist and camper. For instance, the Chippewa Forest in Minnesota is located in that lovely lake region at the headwaters of the Mississippi River. This is the land of the Chippewa or Ojibway Indians sung by the poet Longfellow. The Roosevelt international Highway crosses the Chippewa Forest east and west, and on the Forest there are many roads leading to beautiful secluded spots on the lake shores, just the places to pitch a tent for a few days. Boating, bathing, and fishing are unsurpassed. Campgrounds have been developed for the convenience and safety of camping parties. In the fall of the year the Chippewa Forest offers the best duck and partridge shooting to be found in the Northwest. Deer are fairly plentiful and there are still a few moose...The Superior National forest in Minnesota is also a veritable paradise for the camper who loves the out-of-doors. The most desirable camp sites are accessible only by canoe and the canoe routes are being posted, so that the traveler may be able to stop at convenient portages suitable for pitching camp. Most of the lakes and streams provide excellent fishing, but hunters and fishermen should inform themselves regarding the State game laws.

On the Huron National Forest, in Michigan, the historic AuSable River, which borders the Forest in part, is a remarkable fishing stream. Practically all parts of this Forest can be reached by automobile..
