Title: Pine Man and Ax
Description: Have you ever gazed into the starry heavens and wondered if man could colonize a distant planet? Could he adapt to whatever he found?

Less than 500 years ago people of Europe had much the same thoughts about colonizing America, for the explorers told about its frightening forest and strange inhabitants.

The first expeditions to settle failed miserably. People could not live in the black wilderness and returned home; they became
lost or died out. More than 100 years passed after Columbus had discovered America before the English could successfully settle
Jamestown, Virginia.

This is the story of how Americans mastered their forests, and in turn were moulded by these forests into free and independent
individuals. It is the story of the famous white pine tree and how Paul Bunyan was created to cut it down.
