During April 2004, work crews from Medford OR helped the Hell Canyon Ranger District plant ponderosa pine seedlings on 500 acres burned during the 2000 Jasper Fire. The Fire, located 16 miles west of Custer SD, burned more than 83,500 acres. The 151,000 seedlings included two-year-old and six-month-old trees. Each crew member had a goal of planting 1,000 trees a day.
