10.In winter elk migrate from the higher elevations to the lower foothills where snow is less deep, the climate less severe, and where feeding condition are better. Here we see a typical winter elk range. Sagebrush, bitterbrush, aspen twigs and bark, grass, birch twigs, ground juniper, willows and other shrubs compose the greater portion of winter feeds
